This was a conceptual piece I created to explore a dream that I had. In the dream I had a cut on my chin which was bleeding ladybugs. I thought this was interesting because of the way ladybugs are generally viewed by our society. We tend to portray them as cute or feminine, yet in reality they are just like any other bug. Going along with this thought, I wanted to portray ladybugs and a beautiful woman in a more disturbing light.
Every city has its own unique personality. I wanted to explore this using my own 35mm photography that I have shot throughout my travels, in combination with decorative typography. Using a variety of elements, I wanted to create individualized designs for some of my favorite cities. This was a fun exploration, in which I really challenged myself to visually depict the distincitve characteristics of each place.
This was a typographic series I created to explore some personal events in my life. Often I think that relationships are over long before anyone wants to acknowledge it. Sometimes it helps to take the things I want to say, and design them in a way that brings on an entirely new meaning. Using typography and 35mm photos that I shot in New York, I created this series. The words are suspended within the space, which mirrors the way they seem to hang in the air when we say them aloud.
Port is a restaurant that I branded in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. I created the everything for this branding package, including the name of restaurant, and even the food on the menu. The concept behind Port was developed to unite tourists and locals alike, based upon the word Port.
Concept: Throughout history, ports have been welcoming ships and passengers as they end they journeys across the sea. As a restaurant and bar, Port will serve as the destination resting point when customers set anchor, or seek out a cold drink after a long day in the sun.
Style directions for the opening Title sequence in Beasts of the Southern Wild. I created stores and style frames for the independent film and produced five unique styles. The concept behind each style varies, but they are all similar in the fact that they are whimsical and a step away from reality. I chose to do this because of the way the main character sees the world, which is through a childlike imagination.
Collaborative project with Carlos Enciso for the Sarasota Film Festival in April 2013. The intention of this piece is to show the constant evolution of viewers that occurs when watching a film, and how it effects individuals in a transformative manner.
This was an exploratory series that I did to study English idioms. A "pink elephant" is something that people are said to see quite often when they're drunk. In other words, It's a drunken hallucination. This poster series is based off of Pink Elephants and a visual depiction of the idiom, to see if I could communicate the meaning to viewers without verbal explanation.
Abstract animation using footage and audio from "It's a wonderful life" This piece was created to challenge our perception. When we anticipate a situation or an emotion, that is when we become the most detached from the present moment. By using familiar audio and undiscernable imagery, I want to challenge the viewer to accept the moment as it is, and embrace the unpredictability in the projection as we should in our own life.
Branding for a cafe in Montreal, QB. I developed the name, the menu, and the entire package for the cafe to feel light and European
